About Firm Foundation

OUR COMPANY

Firm Foundation Drafting and Design was founded in 2019 by Alan Powell in Lubbock, Texas. After earning masters degrees in Architecture and Business from Texas Tech University and holding over a decade of experience in the home building and architectural design industry, Alan wanted to utilize his creativity in a new way. He wanted to serve clients with both residential and commercial design with unmatched service and excellence.

Now, Alan works with several local home builders in Lubbock, Texas as well as builders in three other states. In addition, he has designed custom plans for residential homes across Texas, Florida, Virginia, and Louisiana. Firm Foundation continues to expand its services and has added renovations, commercial projects, and renderings to our portfolio.

Alan is a licensed architect for the state of Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as well as a member of the West Texas Home Builders Association.

OUR NAME

Wondering where our name came from? It’s not only for our desire to design beautiful, secure homes and buildings — it’s a bit more than that. The idea came from the song “Build My Life” (if you haven’t heard it, give it a listen!).

The bridge of the song says, “I will build my life upon Your love, it is a firm foundation.” We believe that our business is built for a larger purpose, and have dedicated this small creation to our perfect Creator, who we trust to be our Firm Foundation.
